Sobre el Dassault Falcon 20
Every Dassault business jet flying today descends from one aircraft: the Falcon 20. When it first flew in 1963, the company that built fighter aircraft for the French air force had never made a civil jet — and the elegant, fast twin that emerged founded an entire business that has produced Falcons ever since. But the Falcon 20's most consequential chapter was written by someone else entirely.
In 1973, a young company called Federal Express launched the world's first overnight package network using a fleet of Falcon 20s, stripped of seats and loaded with freight. The aircraft's speed, range and reliability made next-day delivery physically possible for the first time, and an industry was born on the back of this airframe. Few business jets can claim to have changed how the world moves goods; the Falcon 20 did exactly that.
With 3,705 km of range, a 993 km/h cruise and seats for nine, the Falcon 20 still flies the European working map for charter clients who value provenance. At around €4,500 per flight hour, it is among the most affordable midsize jets available — and the only one that founded both a manufacturer and an industry. For clients who appreciate that some aircraft carry history in their lines, this is where the entire Falcon story, and a chapter of economic history, began.
Excelencia en Rendimiento
Nine passengers, 3,705 km of range, 993 km/h cruise — figures that made the Falcon 20 a fast, capable jet in 1963 and keep it relevant for charter today. The type's structure reflects Dassault's military-aviation engineering discipline, the foundation of the build quality and longevity that have kept airframes flying six decades on. Most charter examples have been re-engined and modernised, pairing the original aerodynamics with current systems. Field performance keeps European airports flexible. At roughly €4,500 per flight hour, the Falcon 20 is among the most affordable midsize jets in charter — the founding aircraft of the entire Falcon line, and the airframe on which Federal Express built overnight delivery. Provenance, here, comes at a value price.
Confort de Cabina
The Falcon 20 cabin established the proportions and the build sensibility that every later Falcon would inherit: a genuinely usable midsize space, executed with the precision of a company whose other products had to survive combat. Up to nine passengers travel in a club-plus arrangement, in a cabin whose width and finish were a generation ahead of its 1960s contemporaries — which is why a well-kept example still works without apology today.
Most surviving charter Falcon 20s have been refurbished, often comprehensively, so the classic shell now carries contemporary leather, lighting and connectivity. The aft lavatory is enclosed, a forward refreshment area serves the type's two-to-three-hour sectors, and the externally serviced baggage hold takes a full cabin's needs. What passengers remark on is the build — the solidity and care of an aircraft made by people who knew how to build things that last, and did. The Falcon 20 cabin is not the largest or the newest in this catalogue, but it is among the most authentic: the original statement of a French house whose name now means exactly the qualities this aircraft first demonstrated.
