Kramatorsk Airport sits in the Donetsk oblast, approximately 65 km from the frontlines of the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war. Since February 2022, Ukrainian authorities have closed civilian airspace nationwide under NOTAM restrictions, and Kramatorsk specifically — as a city that serves as the administrative centre of Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk — operates under acute military pressure. No commercial or private charter operations can be planned to or from KRQ under current conditions.

Operational Profile

Prior to 2022, KRQ operated as a regional airfield with a 2,200m asphalt runway oriented for turboprop and light jet operations. The field at 646 ft elevation presented no density altitude constraints. Customs and handling infrastructure existed on site, though the airport had limited private aviation volume relative to major Ukrainian hubs such as Warsaw Chopin, which absorbed significant Ukrainian diaspora and business traffic even before the conflict. Any pre-war FBO or handling capability is considered non-operational at this time.

Transfers & Connections

Kramatorsk city centre lies approximately 5 km from the airfield. Under peacetime conditions, road access via the H-20 highway connected the airport to Sloviansk and onward to Kharkiv (approx. 140 km). Those routing to Ukraine for humanitarian, diplomatic, or reconstruction-related missions must currently plan arrivals through adjacent countries — Warsaw (WAW), Budapest (BUD), or Prague (PRG) — and continue overland or via military-cleared corridors.

Handling & Customs

No FBO operations are confirmed active at KRQ. Pre-conflict, on-site customs clearance was available by coordination. Under current wartime NOTAM closures covering all Ukrainian civilian airspace, no customs, FBO, or ground handling services are accessible to civil charter operators. Any mission requiring access to the Donetsk region requires coordination with Ukrainian military and civil aviation authorities (UCAA) well in advance, and such clearance is not routinely granted for private aviation.
