The field handles a concentrated burst of high-density private jet traffic during the Festival of Speed in July and the Revival in September, when ramp capacity and handling slots fill weeks in advance. Outside the event calendar, movements are light and operations are straightforward for pre-planned executive arrivals.

Operational Profile

QUG operates under daytime-only restrictions — PPR is mandatory and operating hours must be confirmed well in advance of any planned arrival or departure. The field is notified as restricted, with no night operations available and no ILS approach; VFR conditions are the standard working environment. With a usable runway of approximately 1,097 metres on the grass strip and a hard surface runway extending to around 880 metres, aircraft acceptance at QUG is effectively limited to turboprops, light pistons, and very light jets such as the Pilatus PC-12, Cessna Caravan, or Phenom 100. Midsize and super-midsize jets cannot be accommodated and should route via Farnborough (FAB) or London Luton (LTN) for equivalent proximity to the region. Transfers & Connections

Chichester city centre lies approximately 5 km northeast of the aerodrome, reachable in under 10 minutes by car. The Goodwood House and motor circuit are adjacent to the field, making ramp-to-paddock transfers essentially immediate during event weeks. Brighton is around 40 minutes east via the A27. For clients requiring onward routing to London, the Chichester to London Victoria rail service runs in approximately 1 hour 45 minutes from Chichester station. Helicopter transfers to central London can be coordinated through third-party operators when rotary capacity is available on the Goodwood site.

Handling & Customs

On-site customs clearance is available at QUG, which makes it a viable international arrival point for turboprop and VLJ operations originating from Paris Le Bourget (LBG) or other European general aviation fields. Handling is managed by the aerodrome's own team and is rated at standard level — expect ground support appropriate for light aircraft operations rather than large-cabin executive services. Fuel, parking, and basic crew facilities are available. For high-specification cabin requirements, catering and concierge coordination should be arranged externally ahead of arrival. During major Goodwood events, handlers should be briefed a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks in advance given the volume of concurrent requests across the estate's limited ramp capacity.
