The field operates daylight hours only; block-out time must be planned accordingly, especially for evening departures following race or event finales. The aerodrome authority — managed by the Goodwood Estate — has a dedicated flight operations desk experienced with high-density event periods. EGHR's principal runway (06/24) is grass-surfaced at approximately 885 metres. This configuration limits the operation to piston, turboprop, and light jet categories under standard conditions. Aircraft such as the Cessna Citation Mustang, Phenom 100/300, and King Air 350 operate routinely from the field. Mid-size jets are technically feasible in light-load, favourable wind configurations but require individual performance assessment. Heavy jets and long-range aircraft are not compatible with this aerodrome. Clients needing transatlantic or long-range routing should plan a positioning transfer to Luton (LTN) or Farnborough (FAB) as the primary departure hub, using EGHR solely for estate-to-hub transit. Density altitude effects are modest given the low field elevation, but wet grass conditions can materially impact accelerate-stop distances — confirm with your operator during autumn Revival season.

Routes and Network Planning

Primary routes operated from EGHR connect to short-to-medium European destinations: Paris (Le Bourget or CDG), Geneva, Amsterdam, and Dublin are achievable in light jets with favourable fuel loads. For anything beyond 1,200 nm, a technical stop or positioning to a longer-runway hub is standard planning. During the Festival of Speed, a high proportion of movements are intra-European positioning flights returning guests to Paris, Geneva, Brussels, and Monaco. For clients based in the US or Middle East, the operational model typically involves arriving into Farnborough or Luton on a large-cabin aircraft, with a dedicated light aircraft shuttle to the estate. Routing via Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) on longer journeys provides a viable stopover with superior customs and handling infrastructure.
