Water taxi from Santa Margherita Ligure harbor (itself 5 km from Portofino by road) is the preferred final approach for yacht clients. Portofino's annual calendar concentrates demand into a narrow window. The Portofino Superyacht Regatta, Rolex-sponsored sailing events, and the informal Monaco–Portofino circuit in August generate the densest private jet traffic of the Mediterranean season. Fashion industry principals — particularly those connected to Gucci, Versace, and the broader Milan luxury axis — make regular summer transits. Outside the June–September window, Portofino reverts to a quiet off-season village; however, spring and autumn shoulder season sees growing interest from Italian and European clients seeking the destination without peak congestion. Accommodation anchors are the two Splendido properties and Castello Brown events; dining concentrates around the harbor at a handful of long-established venues with no new additions tolerated by local planning rules.
