The field handles a pronounced seasonal concentration: between late May and mid-September, charter traffic from Nice, Milan, and Geneva surges as yacht owners, villa clients, and family offices rotate through Corsica's western coast. The single asphalt runway (02/20) extends 2,200m — adequate for midsize jets up to the Citation XLS+ and Learjet 75 category at standard ISA conditions without restriction. At 18 ft elevation with typical summer temperatures, operators should note that payload margins on super-midsize platforms (Challenger 350, Praetor 600) warrant a weight and performance check during July–August heat peaks. Ultra-long-range heavy cabin aircraft (Global 7500, Gulfstream G650ER) are not suited to this field; positioning a midsize or super-midsize and connecting onward through Nice Côte d'Azur or Paris Le Bourget is the standard solution for transatlantic itineraries.

Ground Handling

Handling at AJA is operated under the Aviapartner umbrella for general aviation, with a dedicated VIP reception area separate from commercial terminal flows. Customs clearance is available on-site, covering both Schengen and non-Schengen arrivals; for non-Schengen flights outside standard hours, pre-notification to DGDDI is advisable to confirm officer availability. The field does not operate a named standalone FBO facility, but the dedicated GA apron provides direct ramp access with minimal transit between aircraft and vehicle. Ajaccio city centre is approximately 8 km from the terminal via the RN193 — typically 15 to 20 minutes by road in low season, up to 35 minutes in August when coastal traffic is at its peak. Porto-Vecchio, Bonifacio, and the southern coast's private estates are 2.5 to 3 hours by road; helicopter transfer is the operationally sound choice for clients bound for the Alta Rocca or Bonifacio cliffs. Propriano and its marina are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes south. For cargo or oversized charters to France requiring direct mainland connectivity, consider scheduling rotations through the summer peak before 08:00 local to avoid slot compression on the apron during peak arrivals windows.
