When Dassault rolled out the Falcon 900 in 1987, the rest of the business-jet world had settled on two engines and worked around the limitations. The 900 has three Honeywell TFE731-5BR engines, with the centre engine buried in the tail in S-duct style. The third engine bought genuine overwater capability without the operational restrictions that bound twin-jets in 1987, and the same redundancy that gave the airframe its military feel. Around 20 examples serve European charter at roughly €9,000 per hour, making this the most affordable entry into the 900 cabin. Newer 900s have the longer legs and the touchscreens, but this is the airframe that proved the trijet concept and that still carries its 12 passengers in the same width and quiet that put the family on the map.

The signature of the cabin is the windows — five large windows per side bring the cabin daylight that the narrower midsize Falcons of the era simply could not match.
