From late June through August, Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) becomes one of the most congested general aviation fields in the Mediterranean basin. The Aga Khan's Porto Cervo development turned the Costa Smeralda into a fixture on the UHNWI summer circuit, and OLB is the single point of entry for nearly all of it. Slot coordination during peak season — particularly the last two weeks of July and first two weeks of August — is non-negotiable. The runway at OLB measures 2,200m (approximately 7,218 ft), oriented 05/23. At a field elevation of just 37 ft above sea level, density altitude is a non-factor for any aircraft in the charter fleet. The runway length accommodates midsize and super-midsize jets — Challenger 350, Praetor 600, Citation Longitude — without restriction under standard ISA conditions. Heavy jets including the Global 6500 and Gulfstream G650 can operate with some payload sensitivity depending on fuel load and ambient temperature in peak summer. Crews planning full-fuel departures on long-range heavies should assess performance data carefully, particularly on hot July afternoons when runway temperatures can spike. H24 operations are available, though late-night arrivals post-curfew periods should be pre-coordinated with handling.

Porto Cervo marina is approximately 30 kilometres from OLB, translating to roughly 35–40 minutes by road via the SS125. Porto Rotondo, a secondary luxury resort hub, is approximately 20 minutes from the terminal. Olbia city centre is 4 kilometres, reachable in under 10 minutes. Ground logistics are straightforward in shoulder season but require pre-booked ground transport during peak summer: rental car availability collapses in August and helicopter transfers to the Costa Smeralda villas — while available — must be arranged well in advance through the FBO or a dedicated concierge operator. The Arzachena area and Baja Sardinia are within 45 minutes by road. For clients routing through Italy with multiple stops, OLB pairs naturally with Cagliari (CAG) to the south or, for northern Italian access, with Venice Marco Polo.
