Arrival Profile: Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE)

ASE is a single-runway mountain airport (Runway 15/33) at 7,820 feet MSL. The instrument approach requires FAA authorization—not all aircraft and crew combinations are approved for ASE operations, and your operator should confirm ASE certification before booking. This is non-negotiable; do not assume any aircraft can land there.

Signature Aviation operates the primary FBO at ASE and is effectively the only full-service general aviation handler on field. Space on the Signature ramp during peak ski weekends is constrained—aircraft may need to ferry out and return (fly to Grand Junction or Eagle County, KEGE, overnight) rather than remain parked at ASE. Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE), 70 km west of Aspen, is the backup. It handles larger jets more comfortably, has fewer slot pressures, and the drive to Aspen is about 70 minutes in normal conditions.
