Ground Handling & Customs

There is no on-site customs and immigration facility at BOB. International arrivals — including private jets — must complete customs formalities at French Polynesia's main international gateway, Papeete Faa'a. Attempting a direct international arrival at BOB without prior customs pre-clearance coordination is not operationally viable; all international movements should be planned via PPT as the port of entry. Domestically, aircraft already customs-cleared in French Polynesia can position into BOB without additional formalities. Ground handling at NTTB is provided at a standard level; there is no dedicated FBO facility. Fuel, basic turnaround services, and crew coordination are available through the airport's general handling structure, though lead times for specialty services — catering, ground transportation coordination, hotel transfers — should be confirmed at least 48 hours in advance given the island's limited logistics infrastructure.

Fleet Compatibility & Operational Constraints

Operations at BOB are daylight-only; the field does not support H24 movements, and night arrivals are not authorised. Operators must plan block-in times accordingly, particularly on westbound trans-Pacific routing where time zone differentials can compress the arrival window. Given the tropical marine environment, aircraft operating regularly into NTTB should account for salt exposure on airframe and engine surfaces. Positioning flights between BOB and Paris Le Bourget or European hubs would use PPT as the technical and administrative hub, with BOB as the final domestic leg. Crew rest planning should factor the absence of CIQ at BOB: if a crew is flying internationally, their entry point into French Polynesia — and thus their rest hotel options — will be Papeete, not Bora Bora itself.
