Burg Feuerstein is a private airfield perched on a forested plateau above the Wiesent valley in Franconia, roughly 25 km southeast of Bamberg and within 40 km of central Nuremberg. The site is best known as a youth and retreat centre operated by the Diocese of Eichstätt, and the airfield reflects that context: it is a short grass strip serving light private aviation, gliders, and touring aircraft, not a commercial or business aviation gateway. Operators routing executive traffic into northern Germany consistently use Nuremberg Airport (NUE) or Hof-Plauen (HOQ) as the primary alternates for heavier aircraft.

Ground Operations & Customs

Burg Feuerstein has no customs facility on site. The strip is uncontrolled and operated without dedicated general aviation handling or FBO infrastructure. There is no instrument approach procedure published for EDQE, and operations are conducted under VFR only.
