Tianfu operates four runways across two parallel pairs: 3,800m and 3,600m on the east complex, serving widebody and ultra-long-range traffic without payload restriction under maximum certificated weights. Field elevation sits at approximately 452m (1,483 ft) above sea level — negligible density altitude impact for all turbine categories under standard ISA. The airport operates under CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) oversight, which imposes specific slot coordination requirements for all general aviation and charter movements. PPR is mandatory; foreign operators must file through a CAAC-approved handler or ground agent at least 72 hours in advance, and diplomatic clearances can extend lead times to 5–7 working days. The airport is connected to central Chengdu via the Tianfu International Airport Express metro line, with journey times of approximately 35–40 minutes to Tianfu Square. Helicopter repositioning to the Chengdu city helipad is available for time-critical arrivals, though requires separate CAAC approval. Handling quality is standard by Chinese GA norms: crew accommodation, fuel uplift (JetA-1 available), and catering coordination are available through the designated handler, but dedicated VIP lounges separated from commercial traffic are not consistently offered at this stage of the airport's GA infrastructure development. Customs and immigration are processed through the international terminal rather than via a dedicated GA facility — confirming the arrival sequence and customs routing with your ground agent prior to departure is operationally critical.
