Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC/VVPQ) is the island’s principal fixed-wing gateway and the most direct aviation option for passengers whose final destination is a resort, villa or residence on Phu Quoc. For private charter, its main advantage is obvious: it can remove the need to connect through Ho Chi Minh City and then transfer onto a separate domestic sector. The trade-off is that 2026 is a year of significant airfield change, so operational planning must use live aeronautical information rather than a static database entry.

Runway and airfield changes in 2026

The established aerodrome record has published a 3,000 m runway 10/28. During 2026, Vietnam’s aeronautical information service has published a series of supplements covering apron expansion, taxi procedures and runway development. Expanded apron 1C was put into operation on 16 April 2026. A later AIRAC supplement, published on 23 July, announces the planned commissioning of runway 10L/28R from 3 September 2026 and the redesignation of the existing runway as 10R/28L. Until those changes take effect and are reflected in the permanent record, operators must work from the effective AIP supplement and NOTAM set for the actual flight date.

H24 services and international clearance

Recent Vietnamese AIP material publishes H24 availability for key aeronautical services at VVPQ, and the airport has customs and immigration facilities. That supports international private-flight planning, but it does not mean an unscheduled foreign charter can simply arrive without preparation. The carrier and local handler must confirm permits, border processing, passenger and crew documentation, parking, fuel and the exact service window for the requested movement.

Handling model for private aircraft

Flyius does not currently publish a dedicated branded FBO at Phu Quoc. Ground support should be arranged through authorized local handling providers. For a private client, the practical questions are whether the aircraft can be accepted at the requested time, where it will park, how baggage and passengers will be processed, whether fuel and catering are available and how the final transfer to the resort will be handled. Those items should appear in the operator’s handling plan before confirmation.

Aircraft choice and mission planning

The right aircraft depends on origin, passenger count, luggage and payload rather than on runway length alone. A long international sector may justify a large-cabin or long-range aircraft; regional missions can often be served more efficiently by smaller jets. During construction or procedural changes, taxiway restrictions and stand availability can be as important as nominal runway capability. Before a Phu Quoc charter is confirmed, Flyius expects the operating carrier to review the current AIP, active supplements, NOTAMs, runway and taxiway status, aircraft performance, parking, handling, fuel, customs and immigration, permits and ground transfer. This is especially important through the 2026 infrastructure transition. The goal is not merely to quote an aircraft with sufficient range, but to present a mission that is operationally credible on the requested date.
