The right airport should be chosen on total mission time, ground destination, live parking and handling availability rather than on runway length alone.

Parking and handling lead time

For a short passenger turn, the critical items are handler acceptance, stand allocation and vehicle access. For a multi-day stay, parking becomes a separate planning question and the operator may need to reposition the aircraft if apron demand is high. The ongoing terminal and parking works make it particularly important to state the expected ground time when requesting handling. Crew accommodation, catering, fuel uplift and the pickup schedule should be coordinated at the same time so the quoted itinerary reflects the complete operation rather than only the passenger flight time.
