Operational guidance for private jet arrivals and departures at Stockholm-Arlanda (ARN/ESSA), focused on handling, runway suitability, customs and access to Stockholm.
Stockholm-Arlanda (ARN/ESSA) lists a runway of 3,301 m. Final aircraft suitability depends on payload, weather, performance data and operator approval.
Private jet handling at Stockholm-Arlanda is supported by named providers including ASE Handling, FCG OPS, Grafair Jet Center. Availability and exact terminal arrangements are confirmed at quote stage.
Stockholm-Arlanda (ARN/ESSA) handles customs and immigration for eligible private flights, subject to prior notice and passenger documents.
Stockholm-Arlanda may support extended or 24-hour operations, but slots, night rules, noise restrictions and parking are always confirmed with the handler.
Light, midsize, super-midsize and heavy jet options for Stockholm are shortlisted against runway performance, passenger count, baggage and route length.
If Stockholm-Arlanda is slot-constrained or not ideal for your aircraft, nearby options around Stockholm include Stockholm Västerås, Eskilstuna, Gävle Sandviken.
Airport operating conditions can change. Flyius verifies runway performance, slots, customs and handling with the operator or local handler before confirming your charter.
For a private jet to or from Stockholm, compare Arlanda for schedule flexibility, Bromma for city access and Skavsta for destinations southwest of the capital. The choice depends on your ground address, flight schedule and aircraft requirements. Flyius is a charter broker: we own no aircraft and send your itinerary to operators for written quotes.
| Airport | IATA / ICAO | Geographic reference | Published airport operating hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stockholm Arlanda | ARN / ESSA | Approximately 42 km from central Stockholm, north of the city | H24: around the clock |
| Stockholm Bromma | BMA / ESSB | 10 km west of the city centre | Local time: Mon–Fri 07:00–22:00; Sat 09:00–17:00; Sun 12:00–22:00 |
| Stockholm Skavsta | NYO / ESKN | 100 km southwest of Stockholm, near Nyköping | Local time: 06:00–01:00; 01:00–06:00 only by agreement |
Code references: Swedavia's IATA list, Grafair's airport identifiers and Skavsta's operator information.
Arlanda is a practical starting point for early departures, late arrivals or airline connections. Its published operating hours offer more scheduling scope than Bromma's. The tradeoff for a central Stockholm appointment is its greater distance from the city. Airport opening does not guarantee a particular slot, parking space or handling appointment. www.asehandling.com
Bromma deserves consideration when your priority is central or western Stockholm. Its location can favour the ground journey, but its restricted flight hours leave less room for a meeting that overruns. Swedavia also publishes strict environmental conditions affecting aircraft acceptance. Holiday schedules can differ.
Skavsta merits comparison for Nyköping and addresses southwest of Stockholm. It lists business aviation facilities, including an FBO and warm hangar. Its geography makes it a less obvious choice for a city-centre meeting; overnight movements require agreement.
These are planning recommendations based on published locations and hours. Compare the complete journey to your address, including passenger formalities and ground transport. www.asehandling.com
An FBO is a facility serving private aviation. The provider assigned to your flight determines the passenger entrance and vehicle instructions.
| Provider | Published address or meeting point | Published provider coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Grafair Jet Center, Arlanda | Navigatörsvägen 1, 190 60 Stockholm-Arlanda | All year, 24/7 |
| ASE Handling, Arlanda | Gate 1 reporting point at Pilotvägen 10; the FBO itself is on General Aviation Ramp M | 07:00–22:00; round-the-clock service on request |
| Grafair Jet Center, Bromma | Flygplatsinfarten 1, 168 67 Bromma | Mon–Fri 06:00–22:30; Sat 08:00–17:30; Sun 11:00–22:30 |
Provider coverage and permission to fly are separate. Bromma's passenger facility can open before aircraft movements begin; Arlanda's continuous airport operations do not mean every handler provides continuous standard service.
Use the entrance in your flight briefing and share it with your chauffeur. For ASE, Pilotvägen is the reporting point for escorted access. Catering preferences and allergies also belong in the initial enquiry; ASE advertises aircraft VIP catering, while the flight proposal establishes the menu and charge.
Private charter does not remove entry requirements. Swedish Police states that external Schengen border checks are mandatory regardless of citizenship. Applicable entry conditions depend on nationality, origin, purpose and length of stay.
Arlanda's AIP lists customs and immigration H24 in the direct transit area; the handler establishes where your passengers will be processed.
For ground transport, provide the final address, luggage requirements and any child seats or assistance needed. A chauffeur estimate should start at your assigned passenger entrance and reflect the intended arrival time. Our first private flight guide helps prepare booking details and documents.
The following are starting points for an operator comparison, rather than promises of nonstop capability:
These editorial suggestions follow the NBAA's principle of matching the aircraft to the mission. Cabin priorities are explained in our aircraft category guide; bag dimensions matter as well as weight, as our baggage planning guide explains.
Your price comes in the operator's written quote. Flyius has no published quote dataset from which to calculate a Stockholm average.
Flight duration and aircraft category: longer flying time increases aircraft use and fuel requirements. A larger cabin generally costs more, so extra space should serve a seating, baggage, comfort or range requirement. Luxaviation identifies aircraft size, distance and trip duration as cost factors and explains that larger aircraft typically cost more.
Positioning: an aircraft may need to fly empty to collect you or relocate after your journey. Consequently, a short passenger flight can still involve substantial aircraft flying time.
One-way versus return: a one-way quote may include onward positioning. Keeping the aircraft for your return can instead introduce parking, crew accommodation and aircraft waiting charges. Comparing these arrangements is more useful than assuming either is cheaper. The NBAA explains positioning and away-from-base expenses.
Winter services and extras: necessary de-icing may be billed separately; GlobeAir's published policy illustrates this. Your own quote should state its treatment, alongside handling, catering, transfers and taxes. Compare total payable amounts, exclusions and cancellation terms using our guide to comparing charter proposals.
An empty leg is a flight an aircraft would otherwise make without passengers to return to base or reach its next assignment. The operator may offer that movement for charter. Its airports and departure window follow the aircraft's positioning needs, as GlobeAir explains.
An underlying booking change can cause the opportunity to be rescheduled or cancelled. Flexible travellers can include empty legs in an enquiry; a fixed appointment needs particular attention to cancellation terms and replacement-travel arrangements. An empty leg does not establish a return flight.
Send Flyius your route, dates, preferred local times, passenger count, baggage, return plans and ground address. Include airport flexibility, catering, pets and assistance needs.
Flyius requests the operator's AOC and insurance for each proposed flight and names the operating carrier in the quote. That carrier operates the flight.
