Doncaster and Sheffield are served by a strong South Yorkshire business market, but the local airport situation needs to be described accurately. Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA/EGCN) closed to scheduled commercial operations in 2022 and, as of August 2026, remains in a formal reopening programme rather than normal public airport operation. City of Doncaster Council launched an Airspace Change Proposal consultation on 5 August 2026 to support the reinstatement of controlled airspace and future arrival and departure routes.
