Once on the ground, the ramp at Baiyun puts passengers within reach of Tianhe and Zhujiang New Town — Guangzhou's main business districts — in well under an hour by road, traffic permitting, with helicopter transfer available for time-critical arrivals during peak fair periods. High-speed rail from Guangzhou South links onward to Shenzhen and Hong Kong in under an hour, which in practice means many Pearl River Delta itineraries are flown into Guangzhou and finished by rail rather than by a second short domestic sector. For operators and passengers weighing options in the region, Guangzhou functions less as a single-purpose destination and more as the anchor point for a wider southern China itinerary — the place where the paperwork, the runway length and the trade calendar all point toward one well-equipped, tightly regulated hub rather than a scattering of smaller fields.
