Once on the ground, the ramp at Baiyun puts passengers within reach of Tianhe and Zhujiang New Town — Guangzhou's main business districts — in well under an hour by road, traffic permitting, with helicopter transfer available for time-critical arrivals during peak fair periods. High-speed rail from Guangzhou South links onward to Shenzhen and Hong Kong in under an hour, which in practice means many Pearl River Delta itineraries are flown into Guangzhou and finished by rail rather than by a second short domestic sector.
