Istanbul’s private-aviation infrastructure changed materially in 2026. On 5 May 2026, the new JETEX–iGA General Aviation Terminal opened at Istanbul Airport (LTFM/IST), adding a purpose-built private-jet passenger facility at the city’s main global hub. For a current Istanbul page, this facility now needs to be evaluated as a primary private-aviation option rather than automatically defaulting every mission to Atatürk. ## Istanbul Airport and Atatürk The new JETEX–iGA terminal provides private lounges and fast passport/security processing at Istanbul Airport. Atatürk Airport (LTBA/ISL) remains officially classified by DHMI for cargo and General Aviation (private) traffic, so it is still a valid alternative. The best field depends on aircraft position, ground destination, slot/parking conditions and the mission itself. ## Ground geography matters Istanbul’s size makes airport choice particularly important. A passenger heading to a European-side meeting, Bosphorus hotel or a connecting commercial flight may have a very different optimal plan from a passenger continuing to the Asian side. Ground time should therefore be considered alongside air time. ## Aircraft and pricing Istanbul sits within efficient range of much of Europe, the Gulf, North Africa and the Caucasus.
