Elevation sits at approximately 30 ft AMSL, making density altitude a non-factor across all aircraft categories year-round. A new terminal expansion, part of the third-terminal project managed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), is under active development and is expected to substantially upgrade passenger and cargo processing capacity. Current operations continue from the existing main terminal with dedicated general aviation handling available through prior coordination with the airport authority.

Dhaka city centre — specifically the Motijheel commercial district and the Gulshan diplomatic and business enclave — lies approximately 20 to 30 minutes from the airfield via the Airport Road corridor, subject to Dhaka's characteristic urban congestion; during peak hours, transfers can extend to 45 minutes or more. The Banani and Uttara business zones are closer, typically 10 to 15 minutes by road.
