About the Dassault Falcon 50 EX
By the mid-1990s the Falcon 50 was a beloved trijet a generation old, and Dassault was not about to let it age out. The Falcon 50EX, certified in 1997, kept the original three-engine wing and cabin but fitted new Honeywell TFE731-40 turbofans behind redesigned intakes, added an EFIS flight deck, and extended range from the 50's 5,556 km to 5,834 km. The numbers look modest on paper; the effect was decisive — burn rates dropped, time-to-climb improved, and the airframe became fit for another twenty years. It carries 9 passengers (up to 10) at 978 km/h. Today around 30 EX variants serve European charter, twice as many as the original 50B.
Performance Excellence
Two crew operate the Falcon 50EX over 5,834 km / 3,150 nm at up to 978 km/h (528 ktas) on three TFE731-40 turbofans. Around 30 examples serve European charter at roughly €9,000 per hour. Its specification is essentially the 50 reborn: same trijet wing, same heavy-class cabin, modernised engines and avionics — the refit that ensured a Dassault trijet of the 1970s would remain a credible charter option deep into the present.
Cabin Comfort
The 50EX kept the Falcon 50's cabin cross-section unchanged — a 7.16 m length, 2.29 m width and 1.86 m of headroom that put it in heavy-jet territory despite its super-midsize classification. Nine passengers settle into a forward club and a mid four-place arrangement that have aged better than any 1970s contemporary, helped by Dassault's flat floor and oval section. What the EX changed was the working environment around it: quieter at cruise from the new intake design, and benefiting from cabin-pressure improvements that came with the refit. It is the original Falcon 50 cabin, kept current.
High-speed WiFi keeps you connected throughout your flight, allowing you to work or stay in touch. A full galley enables fresh catering service during your journey. A private lavatory ensures comfort on longer flights.
