About the Bombardier Global 5500

Bombardier did not replace the Global 5000 in 2019 — it reinvented it. The Global 5500 keeps the well-proven fuselage but re-engines it with the new Rolls-Royce Pearl 15, a turbofan delivering more thrust on less fuel, and pairs it with an aerodynamically reworked wing. The combination pushed range out to 9,630 km at 1,072 km/h while cutting fuel burn — a rare gain on both axes at once. Inside, it debuted the Nuage seat, the first genuinely clean-sheet business-jet seat in three decades, with a tilt-and-recline geometry no previous seat offered. It carries 13 passengers (up to 17), with around 30 in European charter. The 5500 is what happens when a manufacturer applies a decade of new technology to an airframe it already knows is right.

Performance Excellence

Two crew operate the Global 5500 across 9,630 km / 5,200 nm at up to 1,072 km/h (579 ktas) on Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 turbofans — the engine that defines the variant, delivering the longer range on lower fuel burn. Around 30 examples serve European charter at roughly €13,500 per hour. Its case is reinvention: the proven Global fuselage with a new wing, new engines and the clean-sheet Nuage seat, turning a mid-2000s design into a genuinely current ultra-long-range flagship.

Cabin Comfort

The Global 5500's cabin is wide and tall — 12.37 m long, 2.41 m wide, 1.91 m tall — but its signature is the Nuage seat that debuted here. Where a conventional business-jet seat pivots around a fixed point, the Nuage uses a floating base and a tilt-link that keeps the body in balance through recline, plus a headrest that moves with you; the effect on a long flight is measurably less fatigue. Around it sits a three-zone cabin for 13 passengers, with the lowest cabin altitude in its class — pressurised to keep occupants fresher across the longest legs — and the Soleil circadian lighting system engineered to help reset body clocks on overnight crossings. It is a cabin built around the science of arriving rested.

High-speed WiFi keeps you connected throughout your flight, allowing you to work or stay in touch. A full galley enables fresh catering service during your journey. A private lavatory ensures comfort on longer flights.
