YHU operates on a single asphalt runway of 1,829 m (approximately 6,000 ft), oriented 06/24. At a field elevation of roughly 90 ft ASL, density altitude is not a limiting factor for any jet category. The runway length comfortably accommodates light jets — Phenom 300, Citation CJ3+, Learjet 45 — and sits at the lower boundary for loaded midsize operations. A Challenger 350 or Citation XLS+ can operate here at reduced fuel load or with range planning taken into account; dispatchers should verify MTOW figures for heavier midsize frames under hot summer conditions, when ambient temperatures in the St. Lawrence valley can push into the high 30s°C. Ultra-long-range and heavy jets are not operationally suited to this field and should route through YUL. H24 operations are confirmed, allowing arrivals outside standard business hours without advance coordination of staffing.

The South Shore location is a double-edged consideration. For passengers bound for Longueuil, Brossard, or the Montérégie business corridor, Saint-Hubert is genuinely the closer airport. For downtown Montréal, the transfer via the Champlain Bridge or Jacques-Cartier Bridge runs approximately 25–40 minutes depending on traffic, which is competitive with Trudeau-to-downtown times for passengers not using the REM rapid transit link. The South Shore has seen significant commercial and tech sector expansion around the Longueuil aerospace cluster — Pratt & Whitney Canada and Bell Helicopter Textron both maintain facilities within a short drive, making YHU a logical arrival point for industry-specific corporate traffic. On-site customs is available at YHU, confirmed for international arrivals — an important operational distinction given the airport's GA focus. Customs operating hours should be verified per flight, as H24 on-site availability is not always guaranteed at secondary GA fields in Canada; pre-notification through your handler is standard practice. The field has dedicated general aviation handling with FBO-level services available; the main handling provider is Avia Solution Group / local GA handlers — confirm the current handling contract directly with your broker, as FBO arrangements at Saint-Hubert have evolved with the airport's commercial development.
