About the Dassault Falcon 20-5
The original Falcon 20 left the factory in the 1960s with General Electric CF700 turbofans — capable for their day, but loud and thirsty by later standards. By the late 1970s Garrett (later AlliedSignal, then Honeywell) had a Supplemental Type Certificate that swapped them for the modern TFE731-5: quieter, far more efficient, and crucially compliant with the Stage 3 noise rules that would have grounded the original engines. The Falcon 20-5 designation marks an airframe carrying that retrofit — a 1965 airframe with 1980s engines, achieving 3,705 km of range at 969 km/h. It carries 8 passengers (up to 9). It is the conversion that gave the Mystère 20 thirty more useful years.
Performance Excellence
Two crew operate the 20-5 across 3,705 km / 2,000 nm at up to 969 km/h (523 ktas) on the retrofit TFE731-5 turbofans — faster and significantly more economical than the original installation. A small fleet of around 5 examples still serves European charter at roughly €4,500 per hour. It is a niche aircraft now, but a historically rich one: the engine swap that turned an early Mystère 20 into a 1990s-grade jet without leaving the original airframe behind.
Cabin Comfort
The 20-5's cabin is the original Falcon 20's — a 5.20 m length, 1.80 m width and 1.67 m of headroom that were wide for a 1960s midsize and remain comfortable today. Eight seats sit in a club-and-pair layout, with the four-large-windows-per-side that gave the early Falcons their bright, airy character. What the retrofit changes from a passenger seat is what you don't hear: the TFE731 conversion drops cabin noise levels noticeably below the CF700-era 20, particularly at cruise — the same well-built French cabin, simply quieter to spend three hours in.
High-speed WiFi keeps you connected throughout your flight, allowing you to work or stay in touch. A full galley enables fresh catering service during your journey. A private lavatory ensures comfort on longer flights.
