About the HondaJet HondaJet

When a company famous for engines and motorcycles spent thirty years secretly developing a jet, the result was never going to be conventional. The HondaJet, certified in 2015, broke the segment's deepest design assumption: it mounts its two engines on pylons above the wings rather than bolted to the rear fuselage. Aerodynamicists called it heresy. Honda called it physics — and the over-the-wing mount reduces drag at cruise while freeing the entire rear fuselage for cabin and baggage that every rival sacrifices to engine structure.

The numbers that follow are the point. A very-light jet that runs to 783 km/h and 2,661 km of range outpaces and out-distances most of its class, courtesy of a natural-laminar-flow nose and wing and a composite fuselage Honda built from scratch. Munich to Ibiza, London to Geneva, Paris to Berlin — covered comfortably with four aboard.

At around €3,400 per flight hour, the HondaJet competes head-on with the entry-level establishment while offering something they structurally cannot: a full aft lavatory and the largest baggage volume in the class, both made possible by the engines that everyone said were in the wrong place.

Performance Excellence

Four passenger seats, 2,661 km of range, 783 km/h cruise — figures that sit at the top of the very-light envelope thanks to two GE Honda HF120 engines and an airframe engineered around drag reduction rather than convention. The over-the-wing engine mount, natural-laminar-flow surfaces and one-piece composite fuselage combine into efficiency a metal entry-jet cannot match. Single-pilot certification and runway requirements under 1,100 m keep small European fields and island strips in play. At roughly €3,400 per flight hour, the HondaJet charges entry-level money for performance, cabin volume and a lavatory the rest of the class gives up — proof that putting the engines in the "wrong" place was the right answer.

Cabin Comfort

The whole cabin argument flows from that engine decision. With no engines bolted to the rear fuselage, there is no structural carry-through eating into the back of the cabin — so the HondaJet offers a genuine, fully separated aft lavatory with a door, a rarity in the very-light world, plus a heated baggage compartment larger than anything in its class.

The four-seat club cabin itself is finished with Honda's industrial-design sensibility: clean lines, quality materials, and large windows. The over-wing engines also sit further from the cabin than rear-mounted rivals, which keeps the interior noticeably quiet — Honda's engineers tuned the acoustics the way they tune a luxury car interior. A flat floor between the facing seats, thoughtful lighting and a forward refreshment console complete a cabin that feels designed by people who obsess over how a space is used, not just how it photographs. For two-to-four passengers on a 90-minute hop, it is among the most refined rooms in the entry class.

High-speed WiFi keeps you connected throughout your flight, allowing you to work or stay in touch. A full galley enables fresh catering service during your journey. A private lavatory ensures comfort on longer flights.
