About the IAI IAI Astra SPX

By 1995 IAI had a well-liked midsize in the Astra, and the SPX sharpened it where it counted. New Honeywell TFE731-40 engines brought more thrust and better specific fuel consumption, and winglets cleaned up the wingtips — together lifting climb performance, hot-and-high capability and the airframe's manners at demanding airports. This was the version polished enough that when Gulfstream acquired the programme, the SPX became the basis of the G100. It carries 8 passengers (up to 9) at 980 km/h over 3,749 km, with around 12 in European charter. The SPX is the Astra at its most capable under IAI's own name — the engineering high point that proved good enough for a famous American badge to adopt.

Performance Excellence

Two crew operate the Astra SPX across 3,749 km / 2,024 nm at up to 980 km/h (529 ktas) on Honeywell TFE731-40 turbofans, with winglets sharpening climb and airport performance. Around 12 examples serve European charter at roughly €4,800 per hour. Its case is refinement: the most capable Astra IAI built — better engines, cleaner aerodynamics, improved hot-and-high access — and the version polished enough to become the basis of the Gulfstream G100 when the brand later acquired the line.

Cabin Comfort

The Astra SPX's cabin is the family's tall, flat-floored midsize space — 5.03 m long, 1.52 m wide, 1.75 m tall — and what the SPX's refinements add is felt at the edges of the flight rather than the middle. The improved engines and winglets let the SPX climb faster to its cruising altitude, so passengers spend less of a short sector in the busy, sometimes bumpy lower levels and more in smooth high-altitude air. Eight seats in a club-four and pair enjoy the same stand-up headroom and uninterrupted flat floor the Astra is known for, with the SPX's later build years bringing improved materials and quieter cabin treatment. It is the most refined cabin to wear the Astra name, the comfort that earned a Gulfstream badge.

High-speed WiFi keeps you connected throughout your flight, allowing you to work or stay in touch. A full galley enables fresh catering service during your journey. A private lavatory ensures comfort on longer flights.
