About the Bombardier Learjet 55
For two decades the Learjet name meant performance in a deliberately tight cabin. The Learjet 55 changed that. Part of the Longhorn series, it married a new, larger fuselage to the advanced Longhorn wing — the wing famous for carrying the first winglets ever fitted to a production aircraft, a Learjet innovation that the entire industry later adopted. The 55 gave Learjet customers something they had never had: a cabin tall enough to move around in, without surrendering the marque's signature speed and climb. Range reached 3,600 km at 860 km/h. It carries 8 passengers (up to 9), with around 10 in European charter. The 55 is the aircraft that proved a Learjet could be roomy as well as fast — and that put winglets on the world's wings.
Performance Excellence
Two crew operate the Learjet 55 across 3,600 km / 1,945 nm at up to 860 km/h (464 ktas) on Garrett TFE731 turbofans, the Longhorn wing and its pioneering winglets delivering the efficiency. Around 10 examples serve European charter at roughly €4,600 per hour. Its case is the cabin breakthrough: the first Learjet with a genuine stand-up interior, carried on the wing that introduced winglets to production aviation — a landmark aircraft that broadened what the Learjet name could offer without diluting its performance.
Cabin Comfort
The Learjet 55's cabin was a revelation for the marque: 5.97 m long, 1.50 m wide and — crucially — 1.50 m tall, enough that passengers could finally stand and move in a Learjet rather than crouch. After years of the brand's snug, low cabins, the 55's stand-up Longhorn interior felt transformative, giving eight passengers a club-four and facing pair with genuine room to settle in on a multi-hour flight. The extra height changed the whole feel: the cabin reads as a proper room rather than a cockpit extension, and the deep Learjet windows fill it with light. It was the first Learjet cabin built for comfort on equal terms with performance — the marque growing up without losing its edge.
High-speed WiFi keeps you connected throughout your flight, allowing you to work or stay in touch. A full galley enables fresh catering service during your journey. A private lavatory ensures comfort on longer flights.
